Numerical and Experimental Investigations of Deicing Performance for the Pneumatic Impulse Deicing Method

Wind turbines operating in cold regions are more likely to sustain extreme icing, causing the degradation of aerodynamic performance and loss wind energy output. This paper proposed a pneumatic impulse deicing method based on conventional boot. method’s simplified numerical simulation model was built using commercial software ABAQUS explore whether this can deice. After that, experimental investigations were carried out an artificial climate chamber verify specimens method. Numerical results show that could eliminate ice layer with smaller displacement shorter time than The layer’s thickening inflation pressure enhancement benefit performance. Experiment proved performs better under pressures 1.5 MPa 2.5 thickness 6 mm or 8 mm.
